About Kumaun University
Kumaun University is a state university having its headquarter in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
At present Kumaun University consists of three campuses which are Almora, Nainital and Bhimtal. These three campuses are spread over an area of 5,31,373 sq. mt. (160 acres) and built-up area of about 3,00,000 sq. mt.
In today's date university is having 35 affiliated government colleges and an equal number of affiliated self-financed private institutions spread all across the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand and the number of such institutions has been increasing with the passage of time.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded Kumaun University with a FOUR Stars status.
Kumaun University follows International Quality Management System and it's an ISO 9001–2008 certified institution.
The teaching and research activities are being carried out in both the residential campuses and affiliated colleges of the university.
At present time Kumaun University is having Faculties which are given below :

Academic Achievements of University
The university is known for its research and teaching in Geology, Forestry, Ecology, Particle Physics and Chemistry, Economics and Management.
The location of the university in Uttarakhand offers excellent research and teaching due to its landscape which is on undulating high ground. There are many herbs, shrubs and trees as well as rocks and minerals constituting Eco-systems that can be studied.
University also continuously work in raising awareness among students regarding variety of topics including economic resources, medicinal plants, environment, development of tribes, human rights and symmetries and conservation.
It has developed some highly recognized centers of scientific and social researches specifically in the areas of bio-diversity & bio-active principles that shape mountain environment, tradition, culture and human adaptation strategies of the region.
Non-Academic Achievements
In the year 2016 Kumaun University hosted its first Student Film Festival - Kautik, which is from then onward organised every year.
Over the years, by innovating and making several structural changes in its functioning, the University has given a new direction and dimension to the higher studies in kumaun region. The main focus of the University has been to include the courses which are relevant and facilitate the learners in developing skills for easy job access.
