The Department of Geology of Kumaun University was
started in 1975, and it became an active centre of post-graduate
teaching and research in the field of structural geology, tectonics,
petrology, sedimentology, quaternary geology, micropalaeontology,
paleoclimate, mineralogy and geochemistry. The Department aims at
studies for understanding and development of geology and natural
